Plumcreek Township, Pennsylvania

Plumcreek Township is a township located in Armstrong County, Pennsylvania. As of the 2000 census, the township had a total population of 2,304.

Geography According to the United States Census Bureau, the township has a total area of 111.3 km² (43.0 mi²). 109.6 km² (42.3 mi²) of it is land and 1.7 km² (0.7 mi²) of it is water. The total area is 1.54% water.

Demographics As of the census of 2000, there are 2,304 people, 877 households, and 678 families residing in the township. The population density is 21.0/km² (54.5/mi²). There are 935 housing units at an average density of 8.5/km² (22.1/mi²). The racial makeup of the township is 99.44% White, 0.09% African American, 0.09% Native American, 0.00% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander, 0.13% from other races, and 0.26% from two or more races. 0.22% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.

There are 877 households out of which 30.6% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 66.8% are married couples living together, 6.7% have a female householder with no husband present, and 22.6% are non-families. 18.8% of all households are made up of individuals and 7.9% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.53 and the average family size is 2.88.

In the township the population is spread out with 22.0% under the age of 18, 6.2% from 18 to 24, 28.3% from 25 to 44, 27.4% from 45 to 64, and 16.1% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 41 years. For every 100 females there are 102.1 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 100.4 males.

The median income for a household in the township is $34,744, and the median income for a family is $39,559. Males have a median income of $28,802 versus $19,095 for females. The per capita income for the township is $14,624. 11.9% of the population and 8.2% of families are below the poverty line. Out of the total people living in poverty, 17.6% are under the age of 18 and 14.0% are 65 or older.
