Plaid

Plaid (clothing)

Properly a plaid is a large length of cloth, usually tartan[?], worn pleated and wrapped around the waist with the end cast over the shoulder in the ancient style of kilt. A belt and often sporran[?] are worn to support the mass of material gathered at the waist.
