Pittman Center is a town located in Sevier County, Tennessee. As of the 2000 census, the town had a total population of 477.

Geography Pittman Center is located at 35°45'22" North, 83°22'58" West (35.756148, -83.382747)1.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the town has a total area of 15.5 km² (6.0 mi²). 15.5 km² (6.0 mi²) of it is land and none of the area is covered with water.

Demographics As of the census of 2000, there are 477 people, 220 households, and 130 families residing in the town. The population density is 30.8/km² (79.7/mi²). There are 321 housing units at an average density of 20.7/km² (53.6/mi²). The racial makeup of the town is 98.74% White, 0.21% African American, 0.21% Native American, 0.21% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander, 0.00% from other races, and 0.63% from two or more races. 0.42% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.

There are 220 households out of which 22.3% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 50.0% are married couples living together, 6.4% have a female householder with no husband present, and 40.5% are non-families. 35.0% of all households are made up of individuals and 12.7% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.17 and the average family size is 2.84.

In the town the population is spread out with 19.3% under the age of 18, 8.2% from 18 to 24, 23.1% from 25 to 44, 32.5% from 45 to 64, and 17.0% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 45 years. For every 100 females there are 103.0 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 101.6 males.

The median income for a household in the town is $27,734, and the median income for a family is $35,000. Males have a median income of $31,250 versus $20,714 for females. The per capita income for the town is $19,862. 13.3% of the population and 7.9% of families are below the poverty line. Out of the total people living in poverty, 6.9% are under the age of 18 and 16.2% are 65 or older.
