Pinconning Township, Michigan

Pinconning Township is a township located in Bay County, Michigan. As of the 2000 census, the township had a total population of 2,608.

Geography According to the United States Census Bureau, the township has a total area of 108.6 km² (41.9 mi²). 94.7 km² (36.6 mi²) of it is land and 13.9 km² (5.3 mi²) of it is water. The total area is 12.76% water.

Demographics As of the census of 2000, there are 2,608 people, 983 households, and 756 families residing in the township. The population density is 27.5/km² (71.3/mi²). There are 1,055 housing units at an average density of 11.1/km² (28.9/mi²). The racial makeup of the township is 96.32% White, 0.00% African American, 0.88% Native American, 0.27% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander, 1.04% from other races, and 1.50% from two or more races. 1.88% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.

There are 983 households out of which 32.6% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 65.2% are married couples living together, 7.1% have a female householder with no husband present, and 23.0% are non-families. 19.3% of all households are made up of individuals and 8.6% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.65 and the average family size is 3.04.

In the township the population is spread out with 24.7% under the age of 18, 8.2% from 18 to 24, 27.5% from 25 to 44, 26.5% from 45 to 64, and 13.1% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 39 years. For every 100 females there are 101.1 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 102.9 males.

The median income for a household in the township is $43,021, and the median income for a family is $52,237. Males have a median income of $40,000 versus $21,960 for females. The per capita income for the township is $19,163. 7.9% of the population and 6.4% of families are below the poverty line. Out of the total people living in poverty, 10.5% are under the age of 18 and 13.2% are 65 or older.
