Pike County is a county located in the U.S. State of Pennsylvania. As of 2000, the population is 46,302. Its county seat is Milford6.

Geography According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the county has a total area of 1,468 km² (567 mi²). 1,416 km² (547 mi²) of it is land and 51 km² (20 mi²) of it is water. The total area is 3.50% water.

Demographics As of the census of 2000, there are 46,302 people, 17,433 households, and 13,022 families residing in the county. The population density is 33/km² (85/mi²). There are 34,681 housing units at an average density of 24/km² (63/mi²). The racial makeup of the county is 93.10% White, 3.27% African American, 0.24% Native American, 0.62% Asian, 0.01% Pacific Islander, 1.30% from other races, and 1.47% from two or more races. 5.00% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.

There are 17,433 households out of which 34.40% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 63.50% are married couples living together, 7.60% have a female householder with no husband present, and 25.30% are non-families. 20.70% of all households are made up of individuals and 8.40% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.63 and the average family size is 3.06.

In the county, the population is spread out with 26.70% under the age of 18, 5.30% from 18 to 24, 27.70% from 25 to 44, 25.10% from 45 to 64, and 15.20% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 40 years. For every 100 females there are 99.30 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 97.30 males.
