Pickstown is a town located in Charles Mix County, South Dakota. As of the 2000 census, the town had a total population of 168.

Geography Pickstown is located at 43°3'59" North, 98°31'55" West (43.066418, -98.531991)1.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the town has a total area of 1.7 km² (0.6 mi²). 1.7 km² (0.6 mi²) of it is land and none of the area is covered with water.

Demographics As of the census of 2000, there are 168 people, 76 households, and 49 families residing in the town. The population density is 101.4/km² (260.7/mi²). There are 88 housing units at an average density of 53.1/km² (136.5/mi²). The racial makeup of the town is 85.12% White, 0.00% African American, 11.31% Native American, 0.60% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander, 0.00% from other races, and 2.98% from two or more races. 0.00% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.

There are 76 households out of which 22.4% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 57.9% are married couples living together, 2.6% have a female householder with no husband present, and 35.5% are non-families. 26.3% of all households are made up of individuals and 6.6% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.21 and the average family size is 2.69.

In the town the population is spread out with 19.6% under the age of 18, 3.6% from 18 to 24, 28.6% from 25 to 44, 28.0% from 45 to 64, and 20.2% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 44 years. For every 100 females there are 124.0 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 121.3 males.

The median income for a household in the town is $50,250, and the median income for a family is $55,250. Males have a median income of $39,375 versus $19,792 for females. The per capita income for the town is $20,755. 1.1% of the population and 0.0% of families are below the poverty line.
