Photon torpedo (science fiction)

The photon torpedo is a missile weapon that uses charges of deuterium and anti-deuterium suspended in separate containment fields. On impact or command, the deuterium slug is fired into the anti-deuterium containment chamber at the precise moment the containment field is deactivated. The uncontained collision of the opposing elements creates a tremendous energy release which explodes with a force many times greater than the nuclear fusion warheads carried by earlier starships.
