Petula Clark

Petula Clark (born November 15, 1932) is a British singer and actress, popular up to the 1970s but now semi-retired.

She was born in Surrey and had a successful singing and acting career by her early teens, appearing in British films such as Strawberry Roan (1944) and in a series about the Huggett family. In 1961 she married Claude Wolff and settled in France, where she became a pop singer and had a parallel career on both sides of the Channel.

In the UK, Petula's 1960s hits included "Downtown", "Don't Sleep in the Subway" and "This is my Song". She starred in two big musical films: Finian's Rainbow[?] (1968) and Goodbye, Mr. Chips (1969). After this her career went into a decline, though she continued to appear occasionally on television.
