Geography According to the United States Census Bureau, the town has a total area of 176.9 km² (68.3 mi²). 140.5 km² (54.2 mi²) of it is land and 36.4 km² (14.1 mi²) of it is water. The total area is 20.60% water.

Demographics As of the census of 2000, there are 1,180 people, 438 households, and 299 families residing in the town. The population density is 8.4/km² (21.8/mi²). There are 474 housing units at an average density of 3.4/km² (8.7/mi²). The racial makeup of the town is 97.20% White, 0.68% African American, 0.76% Native American, 0.25% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander, 0.08% from other races, and 1.02% from two or more races. 1.10% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.
