BDSM players are highly inventive in employing their
tools in
play, sometimes using ordinary household items as
sex toys, known as "
pervertables".
Examples:
- Bamboo skewers, used in shish-ka-bobs, can be used to poke or scratch the skin.
- Ping-pong paddles or spatulas can be used for light spanking.
- Hairbrushes can be used for spanking with the flat side, or the brush can be used for friction.
- Cling wrap can be used for bondage and mummification.
- Clothespins can be used in large numbers to pinch nipples, genitals, earlobes, tongues or any other loose skin.
- Cheap paraffin candles for hot wax. Beeswax candles must not be used as they melt at a much higher temperature.
- Ice cubes for cold.
- Leather belts for spanking (though this can set off abuse associations.)
- Bandannas as blindfolds or gags.
- Snake bite kits for nipple suction.
- Mentholated rubs for sensation.
Some household items are not safe for use in BDSM play:
- Silk scarves or neckties are not suitable for bondage, as they can slip and pinch nerves and blood vessels in the wrists and ankles.
- The plastic yellow rope commonly found in garages is too thin and harsh for bondage.
Remember, safety first.
