Demographics As of the census of 2000, there are 3,420 people, 1,144 households, and 925 families residing in the town. The population density is 21.0/km² (54.5/mi²). There are 1,334 housing units at an average density of 8.2/km² (21.3/mi²). The racial makeup of the town is 91.99% White, 0.53% African American, 2.37% Native American, 0.20% Asian, 0.12% Pacific Islander, 2.87% from other races, and 1.93% from two or more races. 15.64% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.

There are 1,144 households out of which 40.2% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 67.4% are married couples living together, 7.1% have a female householder with no husband present, and 19.1% are non-families. 13.9% of all households are made up of individuals and 3.1% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older.
