Parkdale, Oregon

Parkdale is an unincorporated community located in Hood River County, Oregon. It was founded by David Eccles and R. J. McIsaac in 1910 to serve as a terminus for the railroad. As of the 2000 census, it had a total population of 266.

Geography Parkdale is located at 45°31'1" North, 121°35'49" West (45.516976, -121.596923)1.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the town has a total area of 1.6 km² (0.6 mi²). 1.6 km² (0.6 mi²) of it is land and none of the area is covered with water.

Demographics As of the census of 2000, there are 266 people, 88 households, and 68 families residing in this unincorporated community. The population density is 163.0/km² (419.1/mi²). There are 92 housing units at an average density of 56.4/km² (145.0/mi²). The racial makeup of this unincorporated community is 80.08% White, 0.00% African American, 4.51% Native American, 0.75% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander, 11.65% from other races, and 3.01% from two or more races. 23.31% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.

There are 88 households out of which 43.2% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 58.0% are married couples living together, 10.2% have a female householder with no husband present, and 22.7% are non-families. 15.9% of all households are made up of individuals and 4.5% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.95 and the average family size is 3.21.

In this unincorporated community the population is spread out with 30.5% under the age of 18, 10.2% from 18 to 24, 26.7% from 25 to 44, 21.8% from 45 to 64, and 10.9% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 34 years. For every 100 females there are 133.3 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 122.9 males.

The median income for a household in this unincorporated community is $31,786, and the median income for a family is $34,375. Males have a median income of $52,679 versus $30,313 for females. The per capita income for this unincorporated community is $18,091. 19.7% of the population and 8.0% of families are below the poverty line. Out of the total people living in poverty, 33.3% are under the age of 18 and 0.0% are 65 or older.
