Paracheirodon innesi

Paracheirodon innesi is a species of fish. Commonly called Neon Tetra, a variety of Characidae (Tetra) which is mostly transparent, apart for an iridescent blue/green horizontal stripe along each side of the fish, from nose to the front part of the tail (the tail and fins are virtually invisible).

When kept in an aquarium

Timid unless hungry. Mid-level feeder. Best kept in a group of 8 or more for the "shoaling" effect when they move around the tank. Their colour and the iridescent stripe become dim at night, and they can be virtually invisible when the lights are switched on after a period of darkness.
