Paleolithic diet

S. Boyd Eaton, M.D., quoted in an article by Jack Challem in Nutrition Science News 1997:

"Fruits, nuts, legumes, roots and other noncereals provided 65-70% of typical gatherer-hunter subsistence (and) were generally consumed within hours of being gathered, with little or no processing and often uncooked...it seems inescapable that preagrarian humans would generally have had an intake of most vitamins and minerals that exceeded currently recommended dietary allowances."

The remaining percentage of man's diet varied according to season and location, but probably consisted partially of meat from wild deer and bison.
