Overland Automobile was founded in 1903 by the Standard Wheel Company[?] of Terre Haute, Indiana, previously in the business of making bicycles. In 1905 Overland Automobile was relocated to Indianapolis, Indiana.
In 1908 Overland Motors was purchased by John North Willys. In 1912 it was renamed Willys-Overland.
