Oswald von Wolkenstein (born 1377 in South Tyrol (now Italy); died 1445 in Merano[?]) was a poet, a composer and a diplomat. In the latter capacity he travelled through all of Europe, even to Georgia.
Most of his songs are monodic[?], although there are also, somewhat primitive, polyphonic works. His melodies are however of high quality. There are three main topics of his work: travel, God and brothels.
