Geography According to the United States Census Bureau, the township has a total area of 83.2 km² (32.1 mi²). 82.7 km² (31.9 mi²) of it is land and 0.5 km² (0.2 mi²) of it is water. The total area is 0.62% water.

Demographics As of the census of 2000, there are 1,097 people, 402 households, and 311 families residing in the township. The population density is 13.3/km² (34.4/mi²). There are 462 housing units at an average density of 5.6/km² (14.5/mi²). The racial makeup of the township is 99.18% White, 0.18% African American, 0.09% Native American, 0.09% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander, 0.09% from other races, and 0.36% from two or more races. 0.73% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.

There are 402 households out of which 33.8% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 65.7% are married couples living together, 7.2% have a female householder with no husband present, and 22.4% are non-families. 17.9% of all households are made up of individuals and 8.7% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older.
