Orbital transfer

Orbital transfer refers to a trajectory in orbital mechanics[?] in which a spacecraft moves from a lower to a higher orbit. In order to move into a higher orbit, a spacecraft must increase its energy, while to move into a lower orbit a spacecraft must reduces its energy.

The orbit which minimizes the energy needed is known as the Hohmann transfer orbit.
