Operation Span

During World War 2, Operation Span (Allied, 1944) was a deception operation in support of the invasion of southern France (Operation Dragoon). This operation consisted of fake amphibious landings on Corsica and along the Italian coast immediately following the actual invasion. This tied down German troops and prevented this deployment against the beachhead.
