The
Oberkommando der Wehrmacht or
OKW was the name given to the High Command of the German Armed Forces during
World War II. It served as the military general staff for Hitler's
Third Reich, coordinating the efforts of the German Army (
Wehrmacht), Navy, and Air Force (
Luftwaffe). The head of the OKW at the time of Germany's surrender was General
Alfred Jodl.
