Oakland Township is a township located in Mahnomen County, Minnesota. As of the 2000 census, the township had a total population of 260.

Geography According to the United States Census Bureau, the township has a total area of 91.8 km² (35.4 mi²). 83.4 km² (32.2 mi²) of it is land and 8.3 km² (3.2 mi²) of it is water. The total area is 9.09% water.

Demographics As of the census of 2000, there are 260 people, 100 households, and 76 families residing in the township. The population density is 3.1/km² (8.1/mi²). There are 155 housing units at an average density of 1.9/km² (4.8/mi²). The racial makeup of the township is 72.31% White, 0.00% African American, 21.54% Native American, 0.00% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander, 0.00% from other races, and 6.15% from two or more races. 0.38% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.

There are 100 households out of which 35.0% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 60.0% are married couples living together, 5.0% have a female householder with no husband present, and 24.0% are non-families. 21.0% of all households are made up of individuals and 3.0% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.60 and the average family size is 2.88.

In the township the population is spread out with 27.3% under the age of 18, 9.2% from 18 to 24, 28.1% from 25 to 44, 24.6% from 45 to 64, and 10.8% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 38 years. For every 100 females there are 128.1 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 122.4 males.

The median income for a household in the township is $43,333, and the median income for a family is $42,917. Males have a median income of $32,679 versus $22,250 for females. The per capita income for the township is $16,193. 8.9% of the population and 9.5% of families are below the poverty line. Out of the total people living in poverty, 9.5% are under the age of 18 and 17.4% are 65 or older.
