Nusselt number

The Nusselt number is a dimensionless number equal to the dimensionless temperature gradient at the surface in a convection situation. It therefore measures the heat transfer occurring at that surface.

 Nu_L = h L / k_f

  L  characteristic length
  k_fthermal conductivity of the fluid
  h convection heat transfer coefficient
