North Clearwater, Minnesota

North Clearwater is an unorganized territory located in Clearwater County, Minnesota. As of the 2000 census, the unorganized territory had a total population of 85.

Geography According to the United States Census Bureau, the unorganized territory has a total area of 497.1 km² (191.9 mi²). 484.7 km² (187.1 mi²) of it is land and 12.4 km² (4.8 mi²) of it is water. The total area is 2.50% water.

Demographics As of the census of 2000, there are 85 people, 27 households, and 21 families residing in the unorganized territory. The population density is 0.2/km² (0.5/mi²). There are 28 housing units at an average density of 0.1/km² (0.1/mi²). The racial makeup of the unorganized territory is 2.35% White, 0.00% African American, 97.65% Native American, 0.00% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander, 0.00% from other races, and 0.00% from two or more races. 5.88% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.

There are 27 households out of which 29.6% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 37.0% are married couples living together, 18.5% have a female householder with no husband present, and 22.2% are non-families. 22.2% of all households are made up of individuals and 11.1% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 3.15 and the average family size is 3.57.

In the unorganized territory the population is spread out with 29.4% under the age of 18, 5.9% from 18 to 24, 41.2% from 25 to 44, 18.8% from 45 to 64, and 4.7% who are 65 years of age or older. The median income for a household in the unorganized territory is $23,875, and the median income for a family is $23,958. Males have a median income of $19,583 versus $21,786 for females. The per capita income for the unorganized territory is $9,389. 11.9% of the population and 21.7% of families are below the poverty line. Out of the total people living in poverty, 0.0% are under the age of 18 and 0.0% are 65 or older.
