Normangee is a town located in Texas. As of the 2000 census, the town had a total population of 719.

Geography Normangee is located at 31°1'45" North, 96°7'4" West (31.029054, -96.117712)1.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the town has a total area of 2.9 km² (1.1 mi²). None of the area is covered with water.

Demographics As of the census of 2000, there are 719 people, 277 households, and 185 families residing in the town. The population density is 250.1/km² (648.0/mi²). There are 358 housing units at an average density of 124.5/km² (322.6/mi²). The racial makeup of the town is 73.71% White, 20.45% African American, 0.42% Native American, 0.00% Asian, 0.14% Pacific Islander, 3.48% from other races, and 1.81% from two or more races. 8.07% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.

There are 277 households out of which 35.0% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 43.3% are married couples living together, 19.1% have a female householder with no husband present, and 33.2% are non-families. 28.9% of all households are made up of individuals and 16.2% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.60 and the average family size is 3.22.

In the town the population is spread out with 30.7% under the age of 18, 6.5% from 18 to 24, 28.7% from 25 to 44, 17.9% from 45 to 64, and 16.1% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 36 years. For every 100 females there are 88.2 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 81.1 males.

The median income for a household in the town is $28,594, and the median income for a family is $34,444. Males have a median income of $29,375 versus $16,042 for females. The per capita income for the town is $18,336. 17.6% of the population and 16.1% of families are below the poverty line. Out of the total people living in poverty, 22.2% are under the age of 18 and 17.6% are 65 or older.
