Noble County, Indiana

Noble County is a county located in the U.S. State of Indiana. As of 2000, the population is 46,275. The county's county seat is Albion, Indiana6.

Geography According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the county has a total area of 1,082 km² (418 mi²). 1,065 km² (411 mi²) of it is land and 17 km² (6 mi²) of it is water. The total area is 1.56% water.

Demographics As of the census of 2000, there are 46,275 people, 16,696 households, and 12,288 families residing in the county. The population density is 43/km² (113/mi²). There are 18,233 housing units at an average density of 17/km² (44/mi²). The racial makeup of the county is 93.98% White, 0.41% African American, 0.25% Native American, 0.36% Asian, 0.02% Pacific Islander, 4.04% from other races, and 0.94% from two or more races. 7.13% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.

There are 16,696 households out of which 37.40% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 60.20% are married couples living together, 9.00% have a female householder with no husband present, and 26.40% are non-families. 21.90% of all households are made up of individuals and 8.60% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.73 and the average family size is 3.19.

In the county the population is spread out with 29.00% under the age of 18, 9.20% from 18 to 24, 30.00% from 25 to 44, 20.80% from 45 to 64, and 11.00% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 33 years. For every 100 females there are 101.50 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 99.70 males.

The median income for a household in the county is $42,700, and the median income for a family is $49,037. Males have a median income of $35,124 versus $24,026 for females. The per capita income for the county is $17,896. 7.90% of the population and 5.60% of families are below the poverty line. Out of the total people living in poverty, 10.10% are under the age of 18 and 6.20% are 65 or older.
