No Strings Attached

No Strings Attached is a pop album by American boy band NSYNC, released on March 21, 2000 (see 2000 in music). Before the release of No Strings Attached, NSYNC's second album, the band acrimoniously split from their old management and signed to Jive Records. This album was intended to counter the perception of NSYNC as un-hip corporate creations (the album title is a play on the idea of freedom from corporate control). In some quarters, the tactic worked, and NSYNC's brand of blue eyed soul[?] and bubblegum pop won over new converts. A majority of music critics, and many listeners, however, dismissed the album as another cynical marketing attempt.
