Niue

Niue is a South Seas[?] island commonly known as "Rock of Polynesia". It has strong ties with New Zealand though it is the second smallest (by population) self governing state in the world with about 2,100 inhabitants. Niue is located 2,400 Kilometers north-east of New Zealand in a triangle between Tonga, Samoa and the Cook Islands.

From the CIA World Factbook 2000. Not Wikified.

The .nu Internet Domain

Niue, through an outside company, sells Internet Domain Names, so most .nu Web addresses are not actually located in Niue. Further details are here (http://www.nunames.nu/about/about.cfm).

On June 23, 2003, Niue became the first country in the world to offer free nation-wide WiFi Internet access.
