Nightmare on Elm Street

Redirected from Nightmare On Elm Street

Nightmare on Elm Street is a series of horror films revolving around the supernatural serial killer Freddy Krueger, played by Robert Englund[?].

In 1984 Wes Craven made probably his most famous movie A Nightmare on Elm Street[?]. The movie is about a serial killer, Freddy Krueger, who raped several children and was burned to death by a mob of angry parents. After his death he returned as a demon or ghost and continued to terrorize the children of Elm Street by killing them in gruesome ways in their dreams.

A Nightmare on Elm Street[?] was followed by five sequels with which Wes Craven was not involved, culminating in Freddy's Dead: The Final Nightmare[?] (1992). In 1994, Wes Craven returned to the series with Wes Craven's New Nightmare[?], in which Krueger appeared in (a fictionalised version of) the real world, plaguing Craven and the actors who had appeared in the original film.

Over the years Freddy has become a cult figure with his deformed face, red and green striped sweater, brown hat and the metallic glove with sharp knife blades attached to the fingers.

As of 2003, there are reports that an eighth movie, in which Freddy Krueger battles Jason Voorhees from Friday the 13th movies, is in production.
