Nieuwerkerk aan den IJssel (population: 21,649) is a town in the western Netherlands, in the province of South Holland. The municipality covers an area of 18.47 km². The municipality of Nieuwerkerk aan den IJssel also includes the following towns, villages and townships: Groot Hitland[?], Klein Hitland[?], Kortenoord[?].
