In astronomy, NGC 2264 is the designation for a young star open cluster in the Monoceros (the Unicorn) constellation. It is located about 800 parsecs or 2600 light-years from Earth, and contains numerous T Tauri stars. Scientists speculate this cluster probably started forming only two million years ago.
