Demographics As of the census of 2000, there are 10,740 people, 3,921 households, and 3,066 families residing in the town. The population density is 58.5/km² (151.6/mi²). There are 4,514 housing units at an average density of 24.6/km² (63.7/mi²). The racial makeup of the town is 95.87% White, 0.42% African American, 0.60% Native American, 0.46% Asian, 0.05% Pacific Islander, 1.25% from other races, and 1.37% from two or more races. 4.85% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.

There are 3,921 households out of which 35.3% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 68.9% are married couples living together, 5.6% have a female householder with no husband present, and 21.8% are non-families. 15.3% of all households are made up of individuals and 2.9% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older.
