New Brighton is a borough located in Beaver County, Pennsylvania. As of the 2000 census, the borough had a total population of 6,641.

Geography New Brighton is located at 40°44'13" North, 80°18'35" West (40.736815, -80.309799)1.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the borough has a total area of 2.9 km² (1.1 mi²). 2.7 km² (1.0 mi²) of it is land and 0.2 km² (0.1 mi²) of it is water. The total area is 8.04% water.

Demographics As of the census of 2000, there are 6,641 people, 2,740 households, and 1,715 families residing in the borough. The population density is 2,489.4/km² (6,450.1/mi²). There are 2,999 housing units at an average density of 1,124.2/km² (2,912.8/mi²). The racial makeup of the borough is 86.28% White, 10.56% African American, 0.24% Native American, 0.20% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander, 0.29% from other races, and 2.44% from two or more races. 0.50% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.

There are 2,740 households out of which 32.4% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 39.6% are married couples living together, 18.4% have a female householder with no husband present, and 37.4% are non-families. 32.3% of all households are made up of individuals and 13.9% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.37 and the average family size is 2.99.

In the borough the population is spread out with 25.9% under the age of 18, 9.3% from 18 to 24, 29.2% from 25 to 44, 20.9% from 45 to 64, and 14.7% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 36 years. For every 100 females there are 88.1 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 79.7 males.

The median income for a household in the borough is $25,932, and the median income for a family is $31,538. Males have a median income of $27,297 versus $21,618 for females. The per capita income for the borough is $13,475. 16.6% of the population and 15.3% of families are below the poverty line. Out of the total people living in poverty, 21.1% are under the age of 18 and 10.0% are 65 or older.
