New Boston is a village located in Scioto County, Ohio. As of the 2000 census, the village had a total population of 2,340.

Geography New Boston is located at 38°45'11" North, 82°56'9" West (38.753049, -82.935819)1.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the village has a total area of 3.0 km² (1.2 mi²). 2.9 km² (1.1 mi²) of it is land and 0.1 km² (0.1 mi²) of it is water. The total area is 4.31% water.

Demographics As of the census of 2000, there are 2,340 people, 1,106 households, and 572 families residing in the village. The population density is 813.9/km² (2,114.4/mi²). There are 1,248 housing units at an average density of 434.1/km² (1,127.7/mi²). The racial makeup of the village is 97.74% White, 0.13% African American, 0.34% Native American, 0.09% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander, 0.21% from other races, and 1.50% from two or more races. 0.64% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.

There are 1,106 households out of which 24.4% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 29.0% are married couples living together, 19.9% have a female householder with no husband present, and 48.2% are non-families. 44.1% of all households are made up of individuals and 24.3% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.06 and the average family size is 2.87.

In the village the population is spread out with 23.4% under the age of 18, 9.9% from 18 to 24, 23.3% from 25 to 44, 21.9% from 45 to 64, and 21.5% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 39 years. For every 100 females there are 70.1 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 62.9 males.

The median income for a household in the village is $15,861, and the median income for a family is $25,036. Males have a median income of $23,158 versus $19,044 for females. The per capita income for the village is $13,810. 32.2% of the population and 28.2% of families are below the poverty line. Out of the total people living in poverty, 41.9% are under the age of 18 and 24.0% are 65 or older.
