The neurolemma, also know as the sheath of Schwann, is the nucleated cytoplasmic layer of Schwann cell that surrounds the myelin sheath[?] of axons. More simply, it is the outermost layer of lines of nerves. Found only in the peripheral nervous system, the neurolemma is instrumental in regenerating axons that have been injured.
