Mount Orab is a village located in Brown County, Ohio. As of the 2000 census, the village had a total population of 2,307.

Geography Mount Orab is located at 39°1'47" North, 83°55'30" West (39.029613, -83.924918)1.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the village has a total area of 9.8 km² (3.8 mi²). 9.8 km² (3.8 mi²) of it is land and none of the area is covered with water.

Demographics As of the census of 2000, there are 2,307 people, 879 households, and 639 families residing in the village. The population density is 234.4/km² (607.7/mi²). There are 932 housing units at an average density of 94.7/km² (245.5/mi²). The racial makeup of the village is 99.22% White, 0.13% African American, 0.22% Native American, 0.04% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander, 0.00% from other races, and 0.39% from two or more races. 0.22% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.

There are 879 households out of which 40.6% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 51.5% are married couples living together, 16.6% have a female householder with no husband present, and 27.3% are non-families. 23.4% of all households are made up of individuals and 11.1% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.61 and the average family size is 3.05.

In the village the population is spread out with 30.8% under the age of 18, 9.8% from 18 to 24, 30.6% from 25 to 44, 17.5% from 45 to 64, and 11.3% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 30 years. For every 100 females there are 86.7 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 80.5 males.

The median income for a household in the village is $33,798, and the median income for a family is $42,938. Males have a median income of $33,672 versus $21,339 for females. The per capita income for the village is $16,483. 14.6% of the population and 12.5% of families are below the poverty line. Out of the total people living in poverty, 20.2% are under the age of 18 and 8.7% are 65 or older.
