Mosaic

A mosaic is a form of art whereby small tiles or fragments of pottery (known as 'tesserae') are used to create a pattern or picture. These were used in ancient times for interior decoration, and are particularly associated with Roman dwellings, but have continued through the ages, and many modern examples exist.
