Mornington Peninsula

A peninsula located south-east of Melbourne in Victoria, surrounded by Port Phillip Bay[?] and Bass Strait.

A tourist region with a variety of beaches (both sheltered and open-sea) and seaside resorts, much of the area is now regarded as a part of greater Melbourne.

Like much of Australia, there have been significant plantings of wine grapes recently, and the region's cool-climate varieties (including pinot noir) are quite highly regarded.
