Monge falls [Mongefossen in Norwegian] are the fourth highest waterfalls in the world. There is some dispute among waterfall buffs as to their official height, which is generally listed at 2,535-feet. They also hold the distinction as being the highest waterfalls in the world , which may be viewed from a railway station. In this case, they are located on the famous Rauma Railway, on the northside of the tracks between Flatmark and Marstein. Unfortunately, as is the case with many of Norway's tallest waterfalls, they have been targeted for hydroelectric power, which results in a greatly diminished water flow during the Summer tourist season.
