Introduced at the end of Season 4, MKF only appeared in three episodes, but developed a cult following among fans, especially fans of Willow and Tara, who were becoming a lesbian couple at around about the same time. The very name "Miss Kitty Fantastico" has therefore been interpreted by some as meaning "pussy is great".
The connotations of the word "kitty" notwithstanding, the name also may be a salute to the saloon girl, later saloon owner, Miss Kitty, (played by Amanda Blake[?]) on the long-running television series Gunsmoke.
After Season 4, Miss Kitty Fantastico simply disappeared from the show, and for a long time this was never explained. Presumably, the producers found working with an animal difficult.
In Season 6, it was revealed that some demons use kittens as currency, presumably eating them, and there ensued speculation that Miss Kitty Fantastico had met just such a death. However, the truth was finally uncovered in the penultimate episode of Season 7, when Dawn revealed that MKF was the victim of an unfortunate crossbow accident.
