Misfit (short story)

Misfit is a science fiction short story by Robert A. Heinlein about a Pinky, a boy from Earth with extraordinary mathematical ability who joins a crew creating a permanent outpost in the Jovian asteroids.

The boy, known in later life as Libby, befriends Lazarus Long -- but that's another story.
