Minden, Nevada

Minden is a town located in Douglas County, Nevada. As of the 2000 census, the town had a total population of 2,836. It is the county seat of Douglas County6.

Geography Minden is located at 38°57'22" North, 119°46'9" West (38.956025, -119.769288)1.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the town has a total area of 11.1 km² (4.3 mi²). 11.1 km² (4.3 mi²) of it is land and 0.1 km² (0.04 mi²) of it is water. The total area is 0.47% water.

Demographics As of the census of 2000, there are 2,836 people, 1,166 households, and 839 families residing in the town. The population density is 256.4/km² (664.2/mi²). There are 1,231 housing units at an average density of 111.3/km² (288.3/mi²). The racial makeup of the town is 94.04% White, 0.07% African American, 0.71% Native American, 1.13% Asian, 0.11% Pacific Islander, 2.08% from other races, and 1.87% from two or more races. 6.59% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.

There are 1,166 households out of which 28.1% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 62.4% are married couples living together, 7.7% have a female householder with no husband present, and 28.0% are non-families. 23.0% of all households are made up of individuals and 11.5% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.38 and the average family size is 2.78.

In the town the population is spread out with 21.9% under the age of 18, 4.4% from 18 to 24, 22.7% from 25 to 44, 27.5% from 45 to 64, and 23.5% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 46 years. For every 100 females there are 95.5 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 92.4 males.

The median income for a household in the town is $56,795, and the median income for a family is $64,375. Males have a median income of $40,833 versus $34,700 for females. The per capita income for the town is $30,405. 5.4% of the population and 3.7% of families are below the poverty line. Out of the total people living in poverty, 10.2% are under the age of 18 and 1.5% are 65 or older.
