Midland is a borough located in Beaver County, Pennsylvania. As of the 2000 census, the borough had a total population of 3,137.

Geography Midland is located at 40°38'18" North, 80°27'9" West (40.638273, -80.452455)1.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the borough has a total area of 5.7 km² (2.2 mi²). 5.3 km² (2.0 mi²) of it is land and 0.4 km² (0.2 mi²) of it is water. The total area is 7.69% water.

Demographics As of the census of 2000, there are 3,137 people, 1,424 households, and 817 families residing in the borough. The population density is 593.7/km² (1,537.1/mi²). There are 1,651 housing units at an average density of 312.5/km² (809.0/mi²). The racial makeup of the borough is 75.71% White, 20.85% African American, 0.45% Native American, 0.00% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander, 0.89% from other races, and 2.10% from two or more races. 3.70% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.

There are 1,424 households out of which 24.6% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 34.1% are married couples living together, 18.1% have a female householder with no husband present, and 42.6% are non-families. 38.7% of all households are made up of individuals and 19.5% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.19 and the average family size is 2.91.

In the borough the population is spread out with 23.2% under the age of 18, 8.2% from 18 to 24, 25.8% from 25 to 44, 19.0% from 45 to 64, and 23.8% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 40 years. For every 100 females there are 82.6 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 76.7 males.

The median income for a household in the borough is $23,117, and the median income for a family is $31,887. Males have a median income of $27,261 versus $20,078 for females. The per capita income for the borough is $17,066. 20.3% of the population and 17.3% of families are below the poverty line. Out of the total people living in poverty, 39.9% are under the age of 18 and 7.7% are 65 or older.
