Mere, Wiltshire

Mere is a large village in Wiltshire, England, having many interesting features. Also, it has a lot of shops, though the number has halved since a bypass was opened in about 1975.

From the Village Square, and within earshot of the Chiming Village Clock, it's possible to glimpse a high verdant carpet between the ancient grey walls of the shops and houses. This is the extreme Southwestern tip of Salisbury Plain[?].

Again from the Village Square, it is impossible to miss noticing the steep slope of Castle Hill rising from the northwestern side of Mere.
