Mercaptans

Any one of the sulphur alcohols. Essentially, this means it is a hydrosulphide[?] of alcohol radicals, only containing sulphur in place of oxygen.

Colorless liquid having an odor resembling that of garlic; strong, repulsive. Looking at its binding states for metals, particularly mercury, one can see the reason for its name.
