Geography Mendocino is located at 39°18'29" North, 123°47'46" West (39.308179, -123.796064)¹.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the town has a total area of 19.2 km² (7.4 mi²). 5.9 km² (2.3 mi²) of it is land and 13.4 km² (5.2 mi²) of it is water. The total area is 69.45% water.

Demographics As of the census of 2000, there are 824 people, 424 households, and 220 families residing in the town. The population density is 140.2/km² (363.8/mi²). There are 549 housing units at an average density of 93.4/km² (242.4/mi²). The racial makeup of the town is 95.51% White, 0.00% African American, 0.36% Native American, 1.09% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander, 0.73% from other races, and 2.31% from two or more races. 2.79% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.
