Medicare

There are several publicly-funded health services in various countries called Medicare

  • Medicare (Australia) is a National Health Service, this is, a comprehensive, universal (for all the residents in the country) public health system.
  • Medicare (Canada) is a similar comprehensive public health scheme.
  • Medicare (United States) is a publicly funded health insurance scheme for the elderly and disabled. Many of the elderly lack medical insurance because they no longer work or never did. The same is true for the disabled.
