Massachussetts Bay Colony

Founded 1620, the chartered colony along the north of the Eastern Seaboard[?] of the North American continent, granted by James I of England to the Pilgrim Fathers. The first governing document of the colony was the Mayflower Compact, drafted and ratified by the first group of colonists aboard their ship, the Mayflower, as it lay off-shore. The first settlement of the colony was New Plimouth[?], later Plymouth, MA. The famous Plymouth Rock[?] upon which tradition says the Pilgrims alighted from their boats is located in modern-day Plymouth.
