Mascot

A mascot is a person or a thing designed to represent a group or company. These are often sports teams, student unions and software developers.

For example: FreeBSD's demon, Darwin BSD's Hexley the platypus, and Linux's Tux the penguin.

Wikipedia is currently having a vote to decide its mascot. [1] (http://meta.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia_mascot)
