Geography According to the United States Census Bureau, the town has a total area of 105.3 km² (40.7 mi²). 104.5 km² (40.3 mi²) of it is land and 0.8 km² (0.3 mi²) of it is water. The total area is 0.79% water.
Demographics As of the census of 2000, there are 978 people, 330 households, and 215 families residing in the town. The population density is 9.4/km² (24.3/mi²). There are 497 housing units at an average density of 4.8/km² (12.3/mi²). The racial makeup of the town is 96.32% White, 0.20% African American, 0.20% Native American, 1.02% Asian, 0.41% Pacific Islander, 0.72% from other races, and 1.12% from two or more races. 0.82% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.
There are 330 households out of which 30.6% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 55.8% are married couples living together, 6.1% have a female householder with no husband present, and 34.8% are non-families. 25.5% of all households are made up of individuals and 10.0% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.39 and the average family size is 2.90.
