Demographics As of the census of 2000, there are 2,141 people, 879 households, and 595 families residing in the village. The population density is 222.2/km² (576.1/mi²). There are 992 housing units at an average density of 103.0/km² (266.9/mi²). The racial makeup of the village is 98.97% White, 0.28% African American, 0.14% Native American, 0.19% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander, 0.05% from other races, and 0.37% from two or more races. 0.75% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.
There are 879 households out of which 29.7% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 50.6% are married couples living together, 11.0% have a female householder with no husband present, and 32.3% are non-families. 28.2% of all households are made up of individuals and 14.8% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.44 and the average family size is 2.96.
